MYHA volunteers make a huge difference and impact on the overall youth hockey experience at MYHA. You are valued, appreciated and we thank you in advance for your time and talent.
When you belong to MYHA, you won’t find a more motivated and passionate group dedicated to the sport of hockey. When you lend a hand, you make our association run. We are one of the largest, most vibrant, tradition-rich youth sport organizations in the state of Minnesota. Due in large part to our family of volunteers.
We’ve shared wonderful team achievements, made great memories and had exceptional volunteers. Without you, the dedicated volunteer, that continued growth and positive shared experience just doesn’t happen. It’s just that simple.
Please know that however large or small your task may seem, it all helps achieve the greater good for everyone who is involved with MYHA hockey from the players to even the rink attendants. You efforts make a difference.
We Use the DIBS System As Our Volunteer Management System
How do we keep this all organized? The DIBS system allows us to efficiently add volunteer opportunities and keep track of who is doing what and when.
It gives families an easy way to schedule, select or ‘claim’ and complete their volunteer task(s) to ensure they can meet their volunteer requirements.
If you have any issues understanding how to use, claim a task on DIBS or with logging in, transferring tasks, etc, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help at volunteers@tonkahockey.org
How Volunteering Works
Consider More Flexible Volunteer Options to Fulfill Your Obligation
Instead of working a specific shift, give yourself the flexibility to fit your volunteer time into your schedule and help with association management and operations.
Do you have questions about alternative options or how you can leverage your skills, just send a quick email to volunteer@tonkahockey.org and lets chat briefly.
2024-25 Volunteer Requirements
In a nutshell, here is what is required:
No Show or Late Cancellation Volunteer Policy
Starting in the 2024-25 hockey season, MYHA will be enforcing our no show or late cancellation policy more strictly than in the past.
$75 Hour Missed Fee
If an individual (or your substitute) does NOT show up for the scheduled shift or cancels within three (3) days of the shift’s start time, then the individual’s account with MYHA will be assessed a $75 per hour missed fee. There will be NO exceptions to the policy.
Make Sure You Get Credit…Use the Sign-in Sheet
It is critical that each volunteer use the sign-in sheet when they arrive for their shift or report to the session coordinator (i.e., tryout coordinator, picture coordinator, tourney coordinator, etc.), if applicable. If a sign-in sheet or coordinator is not available, the individual will need to email the Volunteer Director at volunteer@tonkahockey.org stating they were present for their volunteer shift. In absence of an appropriate sign in or verification email to the Volunteer Director, MYHA will not be able to give credit for assigned shift.
MYHA will send a confirmation email to the individual 24 hours prior to the assessment in case of an administrative error during the sign-in process. MYHA may also verify volunteer participation with other volunteers on-site during the expected volunteer time slot.
Substitution Policy
MYHA understands that from time-to-time last-minute issues may arise and as a result, will allow a volunteer to transfer their shift responsibility to another person who will work that shift on their behalf. However, the shift transfer must be with an adult age 18 or older and the shift will not be counted toward the substitute volunteer, but rather the original individual who signed up for the shift. Completed volunteer hours cannot be shared outside of the family.
Volunteer hours are an integral part of the Minnetonka Youth Hockey Association and are greatly needed to make a hockey association run. We completely appreciate the work that everyone does to help make our children's hockey experience a positive and enjoyable one and making the MYHA program successful! We will continue to offer a variety of opportunities to make fulfilling your volunteer hours workable within your schedule.
