All coaches, team managers, locker room monitors (e.g. hockey moms) and Association Board members must have this training completed prior to the start of the season!
If you have not completed the USA Hockey SafeSport Training Program during the 2020-21 season, you must complete this training before you can be rostered for the 2021-22 season.
The training is a 90 minute session that does not have to be completed in one sitting. There are 16 lessons and 4 tests.

All team managers and locker room attendants need to complete the Background Screening Form every two years which is done online. Team Managers also need to register with USA Hockey (there is no fee for volunteers).

2. Click the “Coaches/Officials” tab
3. Click “Screening” on the left side
4. Click “Minnesota Hockey Background Screening” if you need to be screened this season. There is also a link you may use to confirm that your prior screening is valid this season.
5. Coaches click first option “Coaches”; Board Members, Team Managers, Locker Room parents, etc click "All Other Positions".
6. Log in, or create log in
7. Follow through all of the forms and submit.

The MYHA Board approved the following guidelines for applying volunteer hours to parent coaches and team managers. You must be on the roster to receive your hours.
Travel Head Coach - 24 hours
Travel Asst. Coaches - 2 Named Asst. Coaches receive 8 hours each
Travel Team Managers (1 per team) - 8 hours
Mite Head Coach - 24 hours
Mite Asst Coach (maximum 3 per team) - 8 hours each
Coaches volunteer hours cannot be further divided, reassigned or gifted to another coach either on the same team or any other team in the association.
Mite Team Managers (1 per team) will receive 4 hours but they must also be involved with the Mite Mania/Mite Jamboree.

MYHA pays the registration fees for 3 tournaments. The gate fees for all tournaments are paid by MYHA (if pre-paid or included in the entry fee). If the tournament host charges an admission fee for attendees at the door, the individual attendees will be responsible for those costs.
If a team would like to add a 4th tournament, the entry fee and gate fee are all paid out of your team checkbook. See the MYHA Tournament Policy for more information on adding a 4th tournament.

With the youth hockey season just around the corner and with tryouts wrapping up, we wanted to give you the opportunity to promote your new team(s) within the pages of Let’s Play Hockey.
E-mail your tryout results to us at editor@letsplayhockey.com and look for your team(s) in an upcoming edition of Let’s Play Hockey. Feel free to also include any photos or other stories from your team/association. The deadline for the next issue is 10 am on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Let’s Play Hockey is now publishing weekly, so look for your submissions in upcoming editions.

MYHA does not cancel practices or games due to the weather. If the rink is open, the game/practice is on.
If our rinks do close, Pagel, Minnetonka Ice Arena, Mound/Thaler and Victoria Rec Center, a notice will be posted on the MYHA website.
Travel Team Managers: If you have a league game, do not take it upon yourself to cancel the game. The refs will still show up and you will forfeit the game. If your opponent and you agree to cancel the game, contact Terri Loken immediately so she can cancel the refs.
If you have a practice and want to cancel it, you can do so but your team will be charged for the ice. If you do end up cancelling your practice, please call the rink to let them know you won't be showing up.
