Minnetonka Youth Hockey

This level is comprised of players that are in 10th-12th grade, who want to play hockey but for various reasons, don't play for their High School team. MYHA fields 3 teams: JG16, JGB and JGA. The majority of the players on the JG16 team are usually sophomores and the JGB and JGA are 11th & 12th graders. Our JGA team, the Warriors, have been in existence for more than 30 years. The teams play in the Metro Hockey League.

The Junior Gold teams are formed after the High School tryouts are completed. This year, the tryout dates are November 20 & 21. Players can register prior to the HS tryouts but can also wait until the HS tryouts are over and register on November 20th.

The Junior Gold/16U League games start the first week in December and runs through the end of February. The games are 90 minutes long. Each team has 3 - 4 tournaments during the season, most of them in metro area. The JGA team makes 2 trips to Duluth for tournaments during their season. MYHA hosts a Junior Gold Tournament the 3rd weekend in December. This year's tournament is scheduled for December 15-18 and all 3 teams will be participating. The season culminates with Regional Playoffs and State Tournaments, if the teams qualify.

Junior Gold Registration will be open through November 20th. All season registrations must be submitted online due to the way the website processes registrations. Payments can be made via credit card or check. A $20 fee will be charged for any dishonored check. Automatic payment plans are a payment option.

ALL outstanding balances from prior year’s seasons must be paid before your child is officially registered for the upcoming season. You should have been notified of any outstanding balances. If you did not receive a statement, your child’s account balance is zero.  If you have questions, contact Kathy Latham at info@tonkahockey.org.

Waivers/Playups: To be eligible to play with MYHA, you need to either live in the Minnetonka school district or go to school within the school district boundaries.

If you participated with MYHA in 2010-11 and completed a waiver form and had no change of address or schools, you do not need a new waiver form this year.

If you are a first time player not residing in the Minnetonka School district 276, but attending school within the district, you may choose to participate in MYHA.  To do so, you will need to provide a waiver to MYHA that is signed by the hockey association and the governing hockey district where you reside.

The waiver form is a four part carbon form provided by Minnesota Hockey and cannot be obtained electronically. You may pick up a blank form at Pagel, or email your address to Anne Madson at registrar@tonkahockey.org  and a blank form will be mailed to you.

REGISTRATION FEES:

MYHA collects the total fee of $1400. Players on the JGA team will pay a $150 roster fee once the teams are formed.

Goalies will receive a credit against the base registration to help defray the cost of goalie equipment. Junior Gold goalies will receive a $300 credit and The credit will be applied at the time of registration.

MYHA is partnering with Stauber’s Goalcrease to provide individual training for all travel goalies (Squirt/10U and above including Junior Gold) during the season. Click here for information on the fees and registration process for these in-season clinics. 

The USA Hockey/MN Hockey Fees USA Hockey/MN Hockey Registration and any associated fees are separate from the MYHA registration.  When you click on the Season Registration link you will be directed to the USA Hockey website.  USA Hockey fees are payable by credit card or PayPal.  Each participant will pay the USA Hockey fee of $40 if age 7 or older.  The USA Hockey fee is waived for age 6 (birth year 2005) and younger.  The registration must still be completed to get the confirmation number needed to complete the MYHA season registration.

SCHOLARSHIPS: MYHA offers a limited number of scholarships in varying amounts. These scholarships are based on need, with a maximum of $500 per player for travel teams. BIRTH CERTIFICATES: If you did not play for MYHA last season, please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate to the walk in registration or fax a copy to the Pagel office at 952-470-4471, attention to Anne Madson. Birth Certificates must be submitted for registration to be complete.
