The Minnetonka 10UA hockey team won their second tournament of the 2016-2017 season with three consecutive victories at the 2017 Eden Prairie Meltdown tournament. The team advanced to the championship game with over time victories over Prior Lake and Eastview. After trading goals throughout the game, Jordyn Helling netted the 5-4 game winner 2:00 minutes into overtime on a 2 on 1 rush into the offensive zone.

In semi-final action, Minnetonka and Eastview battled to a 2-2 tie after regulation time and a 5 minutes of sudden death overtime.  Goaltender Quinn McDonald's solid performance in over time  allowed Minnetonka to advance to the championship game with 2-0 victory in the shootout format.

After giving up an early first period goal versus the Minneapolis Storm in the championship game, the Skippers netted the next 4 goals in the first and second periods. However, Minneapolis made things interesting with two late second period goals to narrow the lead to 4-3. The Tonka 10UA team secured the championship with Greer Hardacre's breakaway goal early in the third period to finish the scoring and change the momentum.
