10UA wins Duluth Ice Breaker Tournament

Minnetonka 10UA won the 2017 Duluth Icebreaker Tournament this past weekend. Led by Jordyn Helling's three goals and Quinn McDonald’s strong goaltending, the Skippers defeated rival Edina 5-1 in the championship game Sunday afternoon at Amsoil Arena.

In opening day of pool play, Minnetonka outlasted teams from Andover and Osseo/Maple Grove by 3-2 and 2-1. Minnetonka and Andover finished 3 periods in a 2-2 tie and remained tied after a 5 minute overtime. Minnetonka's Lauren Strothman’s shootout goal secured the win. Strong goaltending from both goalies highlighted the Minnetonka win over Osseo/Maple Grove.

In semi-final action, Minnetonka held onto the lead after Woodbury scored two goals in the final 2 minutes of play. Kenzie Berman secured the 4-3 victory with a great defensive play with only seconds remaining. 

Minnetonka 10UA team’s head coach is Leah Johnson and assistants are Erin McNeill and Jamie Arola.
